Originating from a Bronx studio and a collaboration between the dirt under your fingernails, blues rock duo, The Black Keys and perennial gangster Jim Jones... Damon Dash's Blakroc has evolved into a monster (and that monster was released today)!
I guess after getting a taste of the hip-hip world from Danger Mouse (producer of their last album 'Attack and Release'), the Black Keys were ready to dive head in and Dash was eagerly awaiting them with open arms. Building on the momentum of the initial collaboration with Jim Jones... Dash decided to open his Rolodex of hip-hop greats and invite RZA, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Mos Def and a few others to turn this side project into a full fledged album. When reflecting on previous rap/rock collabs like Jay-Z/Linkin Park and Nelly/ Tim McGraw, it is understandable why this album may be approached with skepticism... however, one can expect something more along the line's of N.A.S.A's 'Spirit of the Apollo'..... just expect more under the covers dirty blues vibes than dance inspired samba soul.
